Expert on Amendment One Christine Regan from ProtectNCfamilies will speak in Alamance County on Tuesday, Feb. 2lst, at the monthly meeting of Democratic Women.
You do not have to be a Woman or Democrat to attend this large meeting at 6 pm at Occasions. The public is invited.
Ms Regan will speak at 6:30 if you don’t want supper, but you don’t need a reservation to come for supper at 6 ($10). Occasions is at 286 E. Front Street. Join others from Pflag to hear how the amendment is harmful to NC citizens, not just gays.

ELON UNIVERSITY EVENTS: OPEN TO PUBLIC
Feb. 15: Race to the Ballot – 7 to 9 pm.
McKinnon Hall in Moseley Student Center
PflagAlamance, Spectrum, Amnesty International, College Democrats, Multicultural Center, the Truitt Center, Students for Peace & Justice, and Elon’s LGBTQ Office ——-all will sponsor this program to educate and speak out on the proposed anti-gay Amendment One, which is scheduled for a vote on May 6th.
This month an intrepid group who oppose Amendment One will run 322 miles across the whole state of NC, from the mountaubs to the coast. Their purpose is to raise awareness of the harms of the Amendment. Along the way, the RACE team will stop at designated registration events on major college campuses—on Wednesday, the 15th, in Elon.
They will register voters. There will also be music and entertainment.

The film “Question One: A Documentary on the Battle for Same-Sex Marriage in America”
McCoy Commons 212 in the Oaks apartment complex at Elon University
This film addresses the struggle for marriage equality in Maine. After screening the film, we will have a discussion of it with Dr. Marvin Ellison (see bio below).

Dr. Marvin Ellison will speak: “Is Same-Sex Marriage a ‘Must’ or a ‘Bust’? Rethinking the Justice Agenda.”
Ellison has been involved in the fight for marriage equality in Maine and has also written and edited books on issues related to same-sex marriage and the Christian church, as well as on same-sex sexuality. He is an openly gay man and an ordained minister.
